| Well, as mentioned this was a motorcycle rally, so it makes sense you'd want to get some riding in. This are of Georgia is blessed with a large number of great motorcycling roads; you could take a few weeks to try them all out. But there was one nearby on the North Carolina/Tennessee border that is world famous- The Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap. This stretch of road is touted as one of the best riding roads around, and with 318 turns in 11 miles it certainly lives up to it's reputation! I rode up there with Bob Rasters and Paul & Nancy Meredith and got to ride the Dragon's Tail in both directions and it was a blast! There's even a motorcycle resort there so you can just stay there and ride it all day, spend the night, and do it again tomorrow! I have a couple of pictures from there but I'm waiting on the ones from Killboy.com where they shoot photos of just about everyone that rides through and you can buy pictures of yourself hitting the twisties on the Dragon. Hopefully mine will be here soon; I'll add them to the site once I get them. |
